Grant Docs CPF Synopsis | Snapshot Report
Objectives The aim of this research project is to provide an overview of the generic prescription drug dispensed by independent community pharmacies for 2012 through 2014 and to examine third-party reimbursements for independent community pharmacy dispensing fees and generic drug ingredient costs reimbursements. In addition, the research will examine patient cost-sharing for dispensed generic drug products from independent community pharmacies. Although national information on the growth trends for generic drugs is available, information on the various cost components of generic drugs is scarce. More importantly, information on the cost components as well as the sum of all the payments received by independent pharmacies is not readily available. Even the number and trends of generic drugs dispensed by independent community pharmacies is not available. This research will fill that informational need.
