Objectives

1. Provide a statistical overview of the drugs dispensed by independent community pharmacies to patients enrolled in the Medicare Part D program. This includes drug types, drug quantities, ingredient costs, co-payments, disensing fees, generic drug untilization and total amount paid by thrid party plan. 2. Analyze and compare the number of prescriptions, prescription drug reimbursements, drugs dispensed, copayments collected, generic drug utilization for dual eligibles before the enactment of Medicare Part D and the first three months after the start of the Medicare Part D. program. 3. Provide a breakdown of cash payments for prescription drugs paid to independent community pharmacies for the first three months of 2006 and compare these cash payments with the last three months of 2005 and first three months of 2005. 4. Esitmate the gross magin per prescription for prescription drugs based on prescription drug claim information, and caluclate an average gross margin and compare before and after the implemenation of Medicare Part D.
