Objectives
The researchers will establish and test a new payment model for community pharmacy by partnering with a major insurance company in the state and an independently owned community pharmacy providing enhanced services. The researchers will collect health claims data and compare claims from patients who use this pharmacy to matched patients using another pharmacy without enhanced services. The data will be analyzed to determine the impact the independent pharmacy has on clinical and economic outcomes. The researchers will determine the financial impact of a per member per month fee paid to the pharmacy from the medical insurance and will explore the effect of additional payments based on pre-specified quality metrics.
