Community Pharmacy Foundation Open For Business

The Community Pharmacy Foundation (CPF) announces appointment of its executive director and its first grant cycle application process.

Pharmacist and former state pharmacy association executive from Michigan, Louis Sesti, has been appointed executive director of the Foundation. In this capacity Sesti will manage the Foundation’s operations and administer its policies and procedures as established by the Board of Directors.

Sesti served as executive director of the Michigan Pharmacists Association for 28 years, during which period the organization was a dynamic leader in many facets of membership services. He also served as Vice President of Professional Relations with PCS Health Systems for 6 years (nowAdvance PCS). "His extensive experience with pharmacy and health care, and his demonstrated leadership with the issues challenging the profession will significantly assist the Foundation pursue its mission," stated Foundation President Phil Burgess.

The Mission Statement of the Foundation is:

The Community Pharmacy Foundation is an organization whose primary purpose is to assist community practitioners by encouraging and fostering the development of new capabilities and continuous improvements in the delivery of patient care. To that end the, the Community Pharmacy Foundation will:

Support the development, processing and use of findings which will establish the value of community pharmacy practice in the health care delivery system.

Support the measurement, publication, and dissemination of findings documenting the value of professional services to the patient rendered by community pharmacists.

Support efforts that evaluate the impact of pharmacist interventions in achieving the targeted therapeutic goals set collaboratively by the patient, the pharmacist and the other members of the health care team.

Support efforts that evaluate patient specific outcomes with regard to the quality of care delivered by community pharmacists.

The Community Pharmacy Foundation was established by court order as part of a settlement of a class action lawsuit.
