CPF Strategic Interests 2016
At the March meeting, the CPF Board finalized its Strategic Interests 2016 document in order to share priorities for the coming year with grantees, partnering organizations and future collaborators.
There are two main goals: (1) grant making and (2) communications,
for which there are six topic areas:
-
Patient care best practices
-
Health care delivery models
-
Provider status
-
Future practice
-
Advocacy
-
CPF grants
CPF is interested in grants that highlight new and emerging patient care innovations that are sustainable, transferable, and replicable in community pharmacy practice. We welcome all grant application ideas through the simplistic 2-step grant process. The next application deadline is June 7, 2016.

Integrating Pharmacists Into ACOs – As healthcare moves to value-based arrangements and delivery models like accountable care organizations (ACOs), the benefit of incorporating a pharmacist can be overlooked. At the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Managed Care and Specialty Pharmacy Annual Meeting 2016, Tina Joseph, PharmD, BCACP, and Reena Jones, PharmD, CPh, both from Nova Southeastern University, outlined how pharmacists can be integrated into ACOs in order to improve care and patient satisfaction while reducing costs.

CMS Patient Safety Webinar
Register Now: Addressing Patient Safety Across the Board
Date: Thursday, April 28, 2016
Time: 1:00 - 2:30pm Eastern Time
Patient safety is an organization wide phenomenon requiring executive attention. In partnership with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), this event will showcase patient safety tools that the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) model programs can readily access to assess their patient safety goals and identify opportunities for improvement. During this event, CMMI models will share their experiences in ensuring patient safety. Faculty from models already using AHRQ patient safety tools will describe how they are applying theses resources within their organizations. Dr. Isett's experience with a CPF funded grant on community-based ACOs will be discussed toward the later part of the webinar.
