7 Scariest Acronyms of Healthcare Explained
The healthcare industry loves its acronyms, and new acronyms are constantly introduced into the healthcare landscape, each signifying change and a new challenge. The latest additions to the vocabulary stem from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement Triple Aim Initiative and the shift from fee-for-service to fee-for-value payment models. Each acronym signifies a program, act or measure that has the potential to chip away at healthcare providers’ bottom lines. All this change sounds scary, but it doesn’t have to be.
Understanding these acronyms, their impact on organizations' daily operations, and the risks and penalties involved can alleviate fears and help organizations continue to excel in the new economic environment. Read the article in Medical Economics.

National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC) Symposium
Dr. Curington was invited to speak at the NAFC Charitable Health Care Symposium in Denver, Colorado on Monday, October 2, 2017.
The session is titled "Prescription for Collaboration: Engaging
Pharmacists in Your Clinic." He will discuss how the patient-centered medical home model seeks to develop a multi-disciplinary approach to health care and how to actively engage pharmacists in free clinics.
Currington explains how ambulatory/community pharmacists provide clinical services beyond filling patients’ prescriptions. Pharmacists, pharmacy residents, and pharmacy interns are seeking opportunities to practice at the top of their license, and the development of new clinical pharmacy services in clinics could attract new volunteers. The session will engage the audience on how to write a "Prescription for Collaboration" to be filled by your community pharmacists.
