Community Pharmacy Innovation in Quality Awards - Nominations for 2019 Awards Now Being Accepted
The Pharmacy Quality Alliance and the Community Pharmacy Foundation are pleased to invite nominations for the 2019 Community Pharmacy Innovation in Quality (CPIQ) Awards to celebrate innovations in community pharmacy practice that promote improvements in quality of care, medication optimization, and patient outcomes. The two award categories are for an individual and a pharmacy.

Osterhaus Family Receives the Inaugural University of Iowa Family Spirit Award
On Saturday, Nov. 10, the Osterhauses will be recognized as the inaugural recipients of the University of Iowa's Family Spirit Award at halftime of the Iowa-Northwestern football game. The newly created award recognizes a Hawkeye family—spanning at least three generations—that supports, or volunteers time to, the University of Iowa and personally or professionally contributes toward bettering the state of Iowa and its communities.

National Pharmacy Organizations Announce New Campaign Emphasizing the Value of our Nation's Pharmacists

Changes to the Community Pharmacy Foundation (CPF) Board of Directors
At the August 22-23, 2018 meeting, the board of the Community Pharmacy Foundation honored the retirement of Robert Osterhaus from the board of directors. Board President Phil Burgess recognized Osterhaus's contributions to CPF during his eighteen years of service. The board appointed Pharmacist Matt Osterhaus, a practicing community pharmacist and a national leader in community pharmacy, to the CPF board of directors.

APhA Foundation Incentive Grant Program receives boost from the Community Pharmacy Foundation
WASHINGTON, DC - The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation announced that the Community Pharmacy Foundation (CPF) increased funding in support of the APhA Foundation's Incentive Grants for Practitioner Innovation in Pharmaceutical Care. This program provides seed money for innovative pharmacy-based projects. The additional funding bolsters the total number of CPF-matched individual incentive grants awarded from 9 to 14 for the 2018-2019 award cycle.

UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy's Center for Innovation in Pharmacy Simulation won four Hermes awards for a CPF grant webpage
An interactive webpage designed by CIPS won four Hermes Creative Awards on May 18. The page, designed for the Community Pharmacy Foundation, outlines principles of team-based health care. Jason Whitley, M.S.; Joel Floyd, M.S.; and Catherine MacAllister, M.Ed. designed the webpage. It was based on research conducted by postdoctoral researcher Chelsea Renfro, Pharm.D. Whitley is the creative lead for instructional innovation in CIPS, Floyd is a multimedia producer and MacAllister is an instruction

PQA and the Community Pharmacy Foundation Announce Winners of the Inaugural Community Pharmacy Innovation in Quality Awards
The newly established CPIQ awards recognize high performance for a pioneering individual (Kari Trapskin, vice president of Health Care Quality Initiatives at the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin) practitioner and an innovative community pharmacy practice (Charitable Pharmacy of Central Ohio) that result in improvements in quality of care, medication optimization and patient outcomes.

CPF 2018 Strategic Interests Released!
View the updated CPF strategic interests document defining areas of emphasis for grant funding and foundation activities. Innovative community pharmacy practice ideas, particularly with potential for financial sustainability are of interest.

APhA Announces 2018 Awards and Honors - CPF to receive the H.A.B. Dunning Award
This award recognizes an exemplary contribution to APhA and the practice of pharmacy by a pharmaceutical manufacturer, provider of support products or service, or other entities such as wholesalers, chain corporations, etc. Honorees will be officially recognized at the APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Nashville, TN, March 16-19, 2018.

Community Pharmacy Innovation in Quality (CPIQ) Awards - Online Nomination Form Available
The Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) and the Community Pharmacy Foundation (CPF) Community Pharmacy Innovation in Quality (CPIQ) Awards celebrate innovations in community pharmacy practice that promote improvements in quality of care, medication optimization, and patient outcomes through awards for an individual and pharmacy. The inaugural awards will be presented at the PQA Annual Meeting, May 16-18, 2018 in Baltimore, MD.

Pharmacists work to make medications safer for pediatric patients. Olufunmilola Abraham, PhD, MS, BSPharm (University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy) published two studies last year in the JAPhA regarding counseling services for pediatric patients and their caregivers.
